    Vero – It’s About Time
    on: November 3, 2022 at 4:38 pm

I followed advice to find an .apk file and did get Vero installed on a Samsung Tablet S6Lite. Of course, the first contact I attempted was Kevin Raber, a week and a half ago. Still pending.

Thank you, Mike. Same experience as you. Apparently, not available for Android devices, definitely told so about mine.

Just searched the Google Play Store. Did not find Vero app for photos. Not on Android (yet)?

    1. Your photo of Paris waking up is marvelous – the tones, the sharpness so vivid but still realistic rather than overdone, and of course the framed scene, dramatic with lots to explore.

    2. ” any matte papers), I can’t emphasize enough the importance of editing tone and color properly under soft proof.” Soft proof is one method; another is getting a feel for a good histogram. Do you think the importance of soft proof varies between Relative with BPC versus Perceptual?

Is this worth consideration for a workaround? Make a .tif of the image converted from the working color space with the paper/printer profile. Set the printer to No Color Adjustment and send the file.

Mark, you don’t like to make a .tif. Understood. But it may be less trouble to make, use, and delete a temporary .tif than to go through the other motions.

“This is my main go-to paper as it has a good weight and shows just about any age really well.” Especially an age as old as mine I’d guess. Or maybe you meant to type “any image.”

What is the best monitor you envision having during the lifetime of this system? Then research what GPUs will drive it – for photos, not gaming.

You can use Task Manager in Windows (Ctrl-Alt-Del) to see the load on your current RAM and CPU while you run your typical suite of programs.

For what it is worth, today IT Supplies broadcast a promotional email for the entire Hahnemühle line of baryta papers. The hook is that they will do beautiful presentation of your black and white images.

Thank you, Paul. Still vacillating in general when it is okay to clone out something, when it is not. Things that we would not put in a painting should be removed if they really distract (or, we simply do not have a shot worth fiddling with), but things that are not too distracting tell the viewer it is a photograph, which I also like to do.

You are right, Mike. I told the fish that, but they just would not cooperate.
