Happy New Year – New Rockhopper Site

Welcome to 2020. From the PXL team and all the contributors of articles and content, I want to welcome everyone to the new year. The PXL team is working on a number of new projects and enhancements to our website. We’ll share more about these in the near future.

It’s been a challenging and rewarding 2019. PhotoPXL has been growing at a remarkable rate, and we have all of you to thank. Our goal is to provide a community for those who have a passion for photography. We are driven to provide a wide variety of content and videos where a photographer can learn from others. Our focus is on technique, aesthetics, discussions, and reviews on the latest gear as well as video content to accompany articles and stand alone. PXL has a growing forum and shared photography space where you can make your own shared photography space and ask questions of the members in our forum.

PXL also has its own growing YouTube channel. If you haven’t done so, please head over the PhotoPXL’s YouTube channel and subscribe as well as click on the bell button so you can be notified of new releases.

Rockhopper Workshops

PhotoPXL also does workshops. You can see the workshops we offer on the PXL site under workshops. These workshops are run by another company I own called Rockhopper Workshops. Today, we announce the new launch of Rockhopperworkshops.com with a newly remodeled site. We have designed this site to be simple and contemporary while being easy to navigate to the workshops we offer.

In the coming months, we will be launching a number of new workshops spanning the next few years. Some of these will be in interesting and photographic locations around the world. Others will be held at the gallery and offices of PhotoPXL in Indianapolis, Indiana. We’ll be starting off with workshops at the gallery on printing workflows through Lightroom and Photoshop as well as using a workflow with ImagePrint and the new Cut-It-Out automated print cutter. We have four printers in the gallery (2 Canon and 2 Epson) so we can focus on the output as well as the workflow. Stay tuned for announcements on this new series of workshops.

Palouse 2020 Workshop Announced

Keep it simple

With the launch of Rockhopperworkshops.com, we’d also like to announce The Palouse 2020 Summer Workshop. This one-of-a-kind workshop is all about getting to know the Palouse on an intimate level with a maximum of four attendees and Kevin Raber. If you haven’t photographed in the Palouse before, this is your opportunity to see what no other workshop offers. Please enjoy the video below and click over to the Rockhopper site for complete details. This is an all-inclusive workshop (except for airfare). I pick you up at the airport and return you to the airport. Everything else is included (except drinks and snacks). It’s all explained on the site. It’s a fun time with lots of talk about photography as well some good eating. I’d be honored if you would join me.

Still Room For Our Svalbard Polar Bear Workshop

Walrus At Storoya
Walrus At Storoya, By Peter Eastway

For years, I have been traveling to Svalbard, Norway, for an annual trip to photograph in the amazing Arctic waters. This workshop will get you face to face with walrus, Arctic fox, a wide range of birds and polar bears. Plus, we do all this from one of the best ships in the Arctic region. Peter Eastway, who is co-leading this workshop with me, is a renowned photographer from Australia. He and I have done a number of workshops in various parts of the world, and this is one of our favorites. Peter won an award from our last trip to Svalbard.

There is a video below made from our last trip. Imagine yourself being part of the photo adventure. You can learn more about this trip and sign up to be part of the expedition on the Svalbard Workshop page at Rockhopperworkshops.com.

More To Come

As mentioned earlier in the article, we have a lot more to come. This will be the year we introduce some exclusive new video content. I think these will be very popular. We will be adding some new features to the PXL site that should also enhance the way you interact with the site, and we are excited to share these with you soon.

I will also announce one-on-one workshops that will be unique and different for those who want to explore and photograph amazing places without being part of a group.

Please check the site regularly for new content. You can sign up on the site to be notified when we launch new articles as well as being sent our newsletters. We do not sell any of your information and it costs nothing.

Thanks once again for the support you have shown PXL, and we are excited that you are part of our family.

Don’t forget we are a free site and appreciate any support you can give by contributing to the site. Information for helping us out is at the bottom of our home page.

We wish you the best in 2020. Get out there and take some photos.

Photography is my passion and has been for 50 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of picture taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can, hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through photoPXL.com, this site, as well as Rockhopper Workshops, and other projects, as well as teaching as Artist In Residence at the Indianapolis Art Center.
