Alabama Hills – Eastern Sierra, Sunrise – Moonset

Beautiful image.  I know this area of the Sierra well.  Is that Mt Whitney just to the right of the area directly below the moon?  Can’t tell with the clouds.

This may be a silly question, but why do these problems with the latest Epson large format printers still exist one year after they were released?  It doesn’t give one much confidence in their product.

I prefer the colour tones of the first, but the composition of the second. To each his/her own!

Re: Canon 5Ds – anyone still shooting with it?

I have a Sony A7r II which I prefer for landscape use due to the dynamic range, no mirror slap to worry about when used handheld or on a tripod.  So far all of my lenses are Canon lenses used with a metabones adapter.  Also have a Canon 5DSr which I use for wildlife photography with Canon 100-400  mm f4.5-5.6 L IS II; I prefer to see the animal through optical view finder.  Of course, if I had Sony A7r IV I might change my mind.  Both cameras are great because the amount of cropping one can do and still get an image with a usable number of megapixels.  I got one shot of a heron fishing and caught the heron with mouth open and fish suspended in mid-air between open beak.  Even though I was at 400 mm on the 5DSr I had to crop the image from 50 MP to 5 MP because I couldn’t get close enough.

I like this one very much.  Quite different from other photos of insects, spiders, etc. that I have seen.  The out of focus green and yellow background add some nice color to the brown bug with the red eyes.
