    About This Site
    on: September 7, 2021 at 3:30 pm

As of April, 2023, this has been updated. Please see the Update post below

    – create the text that you want to contain the URL

    – select it

    – with that text now highlighted, click on the little chain icon in the Visual tool bar above

    – paste or type the URL into the dialog

    – click the Return icon or hit return on your keyboard

    – that’s it….

Just remember that the link will fail if you simply try to paste a copied url into the regular Create Topic/Reply dialog. For reasons best known to WordPress, you are required to create a URL through the use of the link (chain) icon.

    Update
URLs may now be simply pasted into the post’s text. They must still refer to secure servers, https and not http.

Doesn’t work.  The post is “forbidden” as “spam”.

    Test as ‘Participant’ using Firefox

    https://www.ft.com/

Again it works for me when I post as a Participant without Admin privileges.

When this problem re-occurs, could you send the Browser, OS and link in a Message to me

Simon, did you get my reply by Message?

    Chris S

Thanks Simon, – a couple of things– Did you try posting with both Safari & Chrome? If not, would you try again with the unused browser.
    – When you paste the URL, are you certain there is no html text formatting included from another application? Any hidden formatting characters will screw up the URL.
    – Can you try using the ‘chain’ in the tool bar to create the link on selected text? If there is any html formatting in the URL, I believe this tool strips it out.

Chris.  Have you received my emails – re-sent to the new address you gave me ?
