Previously, under High Sierra, the Print Queue window would usefully tell you how many pages there were in a print job and how many there were left to print.  This seems to have disappeared in Monterey.  In all the Monterey updates I’m not I’m not sure at what point this vanished but I think early-on the Print Queue was giving this information.  So clearly something has changed in the way printers exchange information.

This is true with both AirPrint and through the Canon driver.

I know you have your doubts about using WiFi (NOT AirPrint), but does your Epson printer support that ?  I’ve been using WiFi to connect to my Canon PRO-100 and it works very well.  I still get all the necessary features in the printer driver but the connection to the printer is wireless.  The added advantage with the Canon is that I can access all its settings via a web browser.
