Has anyone started using the new Photo Rag Matt Baryta, Photo Silk Baryta and the Bamboo Gloss Baryta?
I am particularly interested in the Photo Rag Matt Baryta..
If so, it would be interesting to know your thoughts and impressions.
Thanks!
William

That sounds great Mark, I will keep an eye open..!
Re: New Hahnemühle Baryta PapersReply #3 on: November 28, 2023 at 8:34 amI put in a notification request for a test sized roll of the 24″ Silk with B&H (16 foot vs the normal 50 foot). They have 17″ rolls in stock and 24″ for the Matt. I’m not a tester in any shape or form though, just a casual user so I’ll also be looking forward to any testing Mark is able to do.

Re: New Hahnemühle Baryta PapersReply #5 on: January 20, 2024 at 4:03 amGreat news, Mark! Would be interesting to see how the new Matte Baryta from Hahnemühle compares to the already tested Canson Baryta Photographique Matt and if this is more than a marketing gimmick.

The review process is underway. It’s a lot of work evaluating 4 papers at a go, so it will take a while. Hahnemuhle and Canson are two independent competitor companies operating in two different countries, so no, there is no marketing gimmick that I would expect or am aware of. That said, there are only a few coating facilities in Europe; while the recipes and possibly quality for the different surfaces vary, from a user perspective there can be a lot of similarity for a particular paper type from one manufacturer to the next without there being “gimmicks”. Choice can boil down to price. Anyhow, work is underway, let’s see what emerges.
