Thanks to Roberts Camera I had the opportunity to shoot with the new Fuji 50mm 1.0 lens.  This is an incredible lens being the first AF f1.0 lens.  I introduce the new lens with a ton of images.  You can even download many of them so you can see for yourself.  Check the article out HERE

As close as one can get to the f/0.95 Noctilux w/o being there… 🙂

Very thoughtful review, Kevin―or initial impressions essay, if you prefer―which echoes but doesn’t answer a number of questions I’ve had about the rationale for this lens.  It may indeed represent a significant technical achievement and, as you say, Fuji deserves credit for the breadth of their X-series lens product line, but I have difficulty figuring out what kind of photographer would have sufficient need for one of these to justify the $1500 U.S. price.  I rather wish Fuji had put the development resources that they obviously invested in this lens into the design of the 16-80mm f/4.0, which has been a  disappointment, or some new consumer-grade lens with more general applicability and a broader potential market.

(And thanks for providing the downloads.)
