    Mark,

Thank you for the reply, but I have never used the creative cloud feature.

Eh?  How did you perform the upgrade?

Russ Lewis: In all five pictures, ambiguity raises questions you must answer for yourself. The pictures don’t tell you what to think. That, more than anything else, is what makes street photography work its poetry.

Yes: a good “street” photograph makes the viewer ask, “what’s going on here?”

I did my best to draft a clear definition some years ago:

Street photography documents ephemeral, unposed interactions in public spaces between people, or between people and their surroundings, in a way that implies a narrative instead of simply depicting what was in front of the camera’s lens.  The narrative may be explicit or implicit, obvious or subtle, literal or ironic, and subject to varying interpretations by different viewers.  Animals or objects may take the place of people if their relationship with other elements in the photograph contributes to the narrative.  Similarly, the interaction need not take place in a street or an urban environment or even outdoors.

I think this still works reasonably well today, but I’m open to suggestions for improvement.

Excellent point.  One addendum: if the faces of children will be visible and their parents are onsite, I ask permission of the parents.  (If the parents aren’t available, I either don’t make the shot or—when it’s feasible—frame the picture so the kids’ faces aren’t identifiable.)

those that say film has a different look than digital are not skilled enough in their post processing skills to know how to make digital look like film. Sorry to say, it’s really easy when you know how.

What about making film look like film  (sic)?  After using a software tool based on machine-learning to repair surface defects from scanning analog media—e.g., after a round-trip from Lightroom to Photoshop to run the latter’s Photo Restoration neural filter on a scan of an old black-and-white negative—I typically use Lightroom’s Texture tool to increase edge acuity and its Grain tool to compensate for the softening and smoothing that resulted from the “AI” transformation.  Any other tricks you can offer to bring back the film-like appearance?
