Hi,
I’m printing A2 borderless prints on the p800. I’m printing on Epson Archival Matte. They have been fine until today when they have randomly started printing with dark grey/black vertical streaks of various sizes, roughly in the same third of the paper.
I’ve tried all sorts of troubleshooting ideas from various forums online and nothing is fixing it.
Has anyone experienced something similar and solved the problem? I’ve attached a couple of images.
Re: Epson p800 printing odd streaksReply #1 on: October 17, 2022 at 5:49 amI should add- nozzle check print comes out perfectly, with no blocked nozzles and I’ve done a couple of print head cleans just in case and also realigned the print heads a few times (plus a bunch more various things that were suggested online)
Re: Epson p800 printing odd streaksReply #2 on: October 17, 2022 at 8:05 amThat looks very much like head strikes on the paper. Call Epson tech support.

Re: Epson p800 printing odd streaksReply #3 on: October 17, 2022 at 8:17 amMark is right, looks like head strikes to me too. This could be because the paper is under stress when being fed through the printer. Are they large sheets? Do they bend or fall off the feed at all, maybe adding a slight buckle to the paper when feeding through? You should be using the front feeder with that paper.
Re: Epson p800 printing odd streaksReply #4 on: October 17, 2022 at 10:01 amEpson Archival Matte is the same thing as Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte is the same thing as what was Epson Enhanced Matte +/-. Within the usual range of inkjet papers it is rather light and thin and it seldom buckles or bends, so I’m not convinced the paper is the issue, but nonetheless examine it and you may as well try Kevin’s suggestion to see whether it makes a difference. I still suspect some kind of mechanical problem perhaps with the paper feed, perhaps with the head travel.

Re: Epson p800 printing odd streaksReply #5 on: October 17, 2022 at 2:59 pmHi, thanks for the responses. I did test with some other papers (such as Canson edition etching) and also tried using the front feeder and had the same issue so I suspect Mark may be right and it’s may be a mechanical issue with the paper feeder. It has also started displaying an error code every now and then 0x1A36.
I’m going to try to take it to a service technician today (which is also what Epson said to do).
Thanks again for your help.
Re: Epson p800 printing odd streaksReply #6 on: October 17, 2022 at 3:32 pmDoing some Internet poking around it does seem like a machine problem. It could be the paper feeder, it could be the print head transport mechanism, or some component fell out of place – the Epson advice was correct. Hope you get it resolved well and soon,
