Just published a new article/review with a video on the Colorado Tripod – Centennial Tripod. This tripod is one of the best value tripods out there. It’s in high demand but for the price worth the wait. You can read the article HERE
Re: Colorado Tripod – Centennial TripodReply #1 on: January 11, 2021 at 3:08 pmNice little review Kevin. I’m not in the same ballpark as you for tripods but I definitely have too many. I did offload the big ones I used with 4×5 and 8×10 gear some time ago.
A good reference for anyone in a buying mood who wants to know something about tripod performance is the website The Center Column. It ranks tripods by stiffness, same with heads and allows re-ordering by height, price, stiffness, etc. A real treasure trove in my opinion. Tripods are grouped into Travel, General Purpose and Systematic.
The Colorado is list in the GP section as the CTC Centennial 2 Aluminum (Aluminum refers to the metal of the spreader as they also make a Titanium version which is not reviewed). It’s one of the lowest priced and comes in at #9 of 29 for stiffness. A pretty good result. If you look at the absolute numbers for stiffness you can see why we have to pay big $$’s for some of the tripods although there are a few surprises in each section.
Heads are listed separately and CTC did not do as well although the Mini looks like a bargain if you want a small head.
Hope this helps
Mike

Re: Colorado Tripod – Centennial TripodReply #2 on: January 12, 2021 at 4:59 pmHello Kevin,
very nice report about this really interesting tripod with ball head.
The only downside is that it is not available in Germany and unfortunately no shipping outside the US.
