Thank you, Russ. Shot ad-hoc yesterday. iPhone, colour filter noir. The best camera is the one you carry with you… 🙂

I also carried a Leica M3 but just getting into photographing on film again, so I am too slow still.

    Hi Erik,

Most of the best photography is “ad hoc.” Here’s something I come back to fairly often . Henri’s final statement: “It’s always luck. You just have to be receptive, that’s all” sticks in my mind. Then there’s his statement: “Photographing is nothing. Looking is everything.” That takes us back to the fact that unless you’re in a studio, photography is a response to what’s out there in the real world. Looking is everything. You looked.

Yeah. I used to love my Leicas too. Had three of ’em. The M4 was best of the lot. But I wouldn’t touch film again on a bet. The D-850 has more resolution than the M4 had, I can decide on color of B&W after the fact, and I don’t have to go into a darkroom to get results.Wow!

    Yep, so true.

Concerning film, there is not much rational about it as far as I am concerned. It’s just a joy to use the M3. And I will suffer when I have to develop and then scan the negatives. It won’t be my day to day go-to camera for sure.
