I’ll keep the politics out of this.  I read a lot of op-eds.  In the Age of Trump, most are pretty repetitive.  Tell me the topic and who is the writer, and I can write the op-ed.  Having said that, if you want to reflect on the 4th of July further in the cosmic scheme of things, here is one of the better op-ed’s I’ve read in the last 3.5 years.  David Brooks of the New York Times:  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/02/opinion/coronavirus-july-4.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage

My favorite 4th of July:  27 years ago in Taipei–I was teaching for a week with my wife Evelyn.  We came back to our hotel, and the local Lion’s Club had a 4th of July celebration.

Hope Debra continues to recover.  Happy Fourth of July.

Thanks, Jack.  It was an afternoon of reflection when I realize I wasn’t headed to shoot photos at the parade, eat fair food, and photograph fireworks with my wife and friends.  It’s a strange year for sure.  Be safe and enjoy the day!
