Jeremy:  This image gives a great impression of volume in the basin and the contrasting lowering in the sky. How did you decide on the white-balance?

Peter, thanks. It’s a two-shot pseudo HDR blend, one exposed for sky and one for land. As to white balance, I shot in raw with auto WB, then warmed it a touch in Lightroom, so that it looked as I liked it and, incidentally, pretty much as I remembered.

Spectacular image, beautiful composed with great clouds. I’d really love to see a print since on my screen the shadows look a bit deep and the cloud highlights a bit bright but I’m certain it would look better on paper. Wow!

Jeremy – that scene has the look and feel of Iceland.

And it doesn’t mislead! I spotted it while driving from Reykjavik to Gullfoss, on the scenic back route you and Börkur recommended.
