    I like the picture with the figure but prefer the darker moodiness of the ’empty’ shot

    Since I’m into street I’ll vote for the one with the figure.

    Good point, Chris – I prefer the “empty” shot for that reason as well. Here’s a revised version of the one with people (plural, Russ!).

    I would now lighten the tone on the highlit shoulder of the figure to draw the eye into the triangle of highlights.
