Blind River is a slow moving river within The Maurepas Swamp of St James Parish. The chemical company “Mosaic” has almost a billion gallons of radioactive water stored in a man-made earthen reservoir. The 200 foot high walls of the reservoir are slowly giving way, meaning the contaminated water would be released into beautiful Blind River, a place I go to photograph often in my little boat. The half-life of the radioactive isotopes means the river and the swamp it flows thru will be poisoned for thousands of years.
