Palouse Rainbow

June 30, 2019

This was an amazing capture.  I was driving my workshop group up to the top of Steptoe Butte in the Palouse.  It was sunny and a mile away was a thunderstorm happening.  As we drove up the hill that winds around the mountain and as we got halfway up we passed at least three other workshops that were shooting from a location by what we call the antennas farm.  I told my group that we were going to the top.  As we got close to the top we could see hints of a rainbow.  I am not sure why most other wrkshops elect to stop halfway up the road.  I guess they want a lower angle to shoot from but they limit themselves.  We continued up the road and bang.  We got to the top it was blwoing like 60 mph and the rain was going vertical ut there was this rainbos.  I put on my 10-24mm lens took a lens cloth and jumped out of the car.  The rainbow was magnificent and the shadow of the mountain was quite visible too.  It was just one of those moments.
