Dear Kevin and Debra
I am deeply saddened by the loss of your father. What is doubly sad is that it was preventable. I only hope that neither of you become positive. As you say, Kevin, the time has come for a world-wide effort, a coordinated Manhattan style project to develop standard testing, train contact tracing personnel, to quickly develop not only suitable treatments, but eventually a vaccine. Instead we have blame throwers with absolutely no empathy. How many more people must die, needlessly? I hope your article provided somewhat of a cathartic relief. Yet no amount of catharsis can bring back a loved one. You will at least have your memories. Please stay safe.

Re: Zeiss lenses and digital backsReply #1 on: December 19, 2019 at 12:16 pmThanks for the advice, Kevin. I know Sony has been on a hot streak the past year. I will take a look at it and maybe keep the Hasselblads for Velvialand and car camping 😉
Re: Medium FormatReply #2 on: December 18, 2019 at 8:22 amI need some advice. I am currently using a V system Hasselblad with Zeiss T* lenses – 50mm; 80mm; 150mm; 250mm. The 150mm in particular is the finest lens I have ever used. Wanting to go digital medium format, I have a conundrum. Many of these lenses are quite heavy, as well as the body and backs. As a side note, I was in Portugal with my 7D and two lenses. Even with a small pack, the weight was starting to become noticeable. The full Hasselblad setup in my ThinkTank 45L is also become a major workout for these old bones. I have wanted to lighten the load as they say. The digital back that works with the V system looks attractive, particularly with the pending 907X. Not being familiar with the Nitoh lenses, I’m deeply wedded to the Zeiss lenses. Has anyone had any experience with these older lenses and digital backs? Or does going digital require the need for lenses specifically design for digital? Or should I just part ways with my beloved V System and go with the X1D II? Despite my ramblings, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I am deeply touched by your comments. I was offended by by what happened on that other website. It clearly did not reflect what Micheal wanted. I too, am a cat person. As a teenager in teh 60s, I used to show cats. My Calico Domestic ShortHair won several national awards. Today, that really does not matter. What matters is that we have animals that give us joy, love, and unforgiving loyalty.
Just to let you know, I will support you. I will support those crazy folks over at Roberts Camera ( my go to site for used Hasselblad equipment). You represent all that is good, and also that which is fun about photography. Here’s to raising a glass of your favorite libation.

Re: New Article Announcements & DiscussionsReply #4 on: August 21, 2019 at 8:21 pmI see in the NY Times tonight that Jack Perkins passed away. I saw him on one of Kevin’s videos of the Palouse a couple of years back. He was a great reporter and an avid photographer. From his obit, “Mr. Perkins said in a 2012 interview. “Say less, mean more. If a story is dramatic, you don’t have to tell it dramatically. Be simple. Direct.” I think that this can also apply to photographic vision. I will miss him.
