M1-iMacs – what’s next for us?on: May 12, 2021 at 6:32 pm
I reluctantly bought a M1 MacBook Air, 1TB 16gb ram, it now has completely replaced all my other Macs, I edit 4k video on and work with hasselblad raw files, LR, Phocus, PS, it does everything faster then a high end iMac or MacBook Pro. at less then 1/2 of the price. I know that M2 will come and it will be even better but so far everything I throw at it is almost instant.
the only drawback for now seems to be rending times (in fcpx or when posting large numbers of files) especially in background. still at least on par with intel Macs but it mostly depends on with GPU it is compared to. all this in a MacBook Air with no fans and a real full day battery life.
the new iMacs look good to me, I rarely work on larger then 24 or 27 monitors and for any kind of photo work they will be more then ok. way faster then anything pre 2015. but for a stationary machine I would prefer better rendering times.
Re: The New Epson P700 Overview – Print At HomeReply #1 on: October 14, 2020 at 5:07 pmI was connected with a higher up level of support right away, they were knowledgeable but i can see how these printers are very new and not many calls have come in about them….he did say that that is the way things are handled in the wide printers but not these (P700 and P900) …
Looking forward to what you will find out!
Re: The New Epson P700 Overview – Print At HomeReply #2 on: October 14, 2020 at 12:52 pmSo i just spoke with Epson support and was told that the profiles are NOT stored on the printer, so there is no way (right now?) to get custom profiles in the iOS app….
i also noticed that when i choose the official epson profiles (in this case luster and exhibition fiber) in Mac OS and iOS i do not get the same print output…which is very strange…
Re: The New Epson P700 Overview – Print At HomeReply #3 on: October 14, 2020 at 11:19 amI agree, I think the Media Installer application is a great idea to get media choices and profiles organized across platforms in one place….it should make things a lot easier in the long run….I am not surprised that the iOS app is somewhat behind a bit, I am working all most exclusively from iPad Pro these days, I shoot Hasselblad X and 907 and with Phocus and LR I am faster on the iPad then a top of the line MBP….so i am really looking forward to getting prints straight off it as well….
Re: The New Epson P700 Overview – Print At HomeReply #4 on: October 14, 2020 at 12:50 amSo I was successful adding more paper options with the epson media installer from my desktop, they get uploaded to the printer and show up in the ipad app….i have tried to upload custom profiles as well, seems to work just fine, they show up in the desktop version of epson layout….they do however not show up in the ipad app….i received an update for that as well today (1.3.0) and the custom profiles do not show…..will call epson tomorrow to find out more….
