    LR update today

It doesn’t matter where Lightroom Classic (the application) is installed or where the catalog is stored.

You have one master catalog, it appears, one that’s been updated over the years (hence the V10, V11, V12), a big mess. Anyway, somewhere is the last catalog you used that ‘knows’ the folder structure and where all your images reside. That is all a catalog really does points to folders and images, etc. WHERE is the last catalog you used that had all your current folder structure? Find and double-click on it: LR opens and will likely ask you to upgrade it. That old V whatever catalog from the previous version will be left intact and a new converted catalog with V13 will now be created, and you should now see all your folders with the images intact inside. Now clean up all that old stuff (back it up if you wish, delete it, whatever).

You want ONE catalog that the current version supports.  You want one set of files associated with that catalog as I showed in a previous screen capture (Previews .Lrdata, Helper.LRdata, etc).

Now set the preferences to always open this one catalog. Done.

I think I know what is happening. LR resides on the “C” drive. When I first opened LR the other day, a window popped up asking to update the catalog (I believe). I don’t recall, of all the options listed in the pop-up window, but I thought I clicked on the right one. As soon as I did that, LR opened up a catalog (as listed in the upper most left corner of LR) being “Lightroom Catalog-v13”. That listing is in a folder on my “C” drive (under This PC (which is the C drive) picture> Lightroom) whereas the images and catalog that I use is on my “G” drive which is listed as: LR & Images(G)>Keith’s LR Catalog. I hope I clarified that. So how do I go about making sure that the correct catalog is opened when I open LR?

Sounds like it’s working as it should.

But if LR was opening a different (empty) catalog that had no folders in the library then that .lrcat is located somewhere else.  Find and delete if you can.

What’s the problem, indeed (other than a massive mess of documents).

OK, so what’s the problem? Are there still missing folders? If it’s OK, just set this as your default catalog and you should be good to go.
