    PXLtorials Discussion

I appreciate your putting up a video on how to calibrate your monitor.  I agree with you that this is an important element in getting your overall process in control.  The video gives a good overview of how to perform the calibration but I would like to know more (my analytical side). You have used the defaults for Luminance and Gamma and so on but it would be good to have some discussion when you might want to select other than the default.

Really enjoyed this most recent upload of your discussion of printing and papers.  I must say the quality of the info is driving me toward gold.  Keep up the good works.

Excellent presentation.  I must try and make one of those 3D gamut models that Jeff has but I am afraid mine would explode the moment I tried to expand it.

But for my question.  I understand why it is best to work in the largest colorspace – pro-photo and not to clip colors that may have been captured  by your camera in RAW and I see how high gamut monitors can display all or most of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space but none can display all of pro-photo.  So what happens when you have an image you are working on in the pro-photo color space yet you cant see the colors represented on your display?  Is it therefore better to edit in Adobe RGB as you are also more likely to be able see and to print more of that gamut than Pro-photo?

Thank you for your quick reply and guidance to the exact point in your review that answers my question and provides suggestions on how one might select and prepare an image to print on the Belgian linen natural. I am sure when I read though all of the review in detail there will me more helpful material for me.  Again excellent review — Thank You

Another outstanding FULL review by M Segal.  I find I get a great deal from his reviews to read once though to almost skim through for the high points then take my time some time later to read all the salient details that he provides.  Excellent work and appreciate the total attention to detail that you provide.

One question I have is on the linen natural.  I understand that it has a very limited gamut and therefore color images would be quite muted.  How would this work with B&W images?  The Breathing Color website has some examples that look quite good.
