Progressive lens glasses and viewfinders… an insight.

What a great idea Rand, thanks for sharing.  While I don’t need progressives yet I know the day will come.  Hopefully by then I won’t have forgotten this idea.  LOL

Kevin, I’m with you on the 100-400 lens.  When I sold my Canon gear (4 bodies and 12 lenses, etc. etc.) and switched to Sony I decided that I was going to slim my gear selection down.  I used LR metadata to see what lenses & focal ranges I was commonly using.  Came to the conclusion I could get away with the 16-35, 24-70, 100-400 and now also the 200-600.  I also have the 24-240 as a general purpose travel lens when I’m not doing my landscape/wildlife shooting.  Nice to be able to fit what I need into one bag and not have to stand at my closet wondering what lenses I’m going to use and which ones get left behind.

Wife is happier too as she isn’t my extra gear sherpa!  LOL

The M4/3 platform is impressive (as noted above) however I do wonder about their long term financial viability.  I owned both Canon & Olympus gear and generally found I left my Olympus gear behind more times than not.  Then I switched to Sony (happy to be in that camp) and sold all my Canon & Olympus gear.  I feel I get better image results with the Sony compared to Canon and have a smaller set of gear in Sony.  Although the Olympus gear is smaller than Sony I just didn’t get a good feel for the ergonomics of it, I guess that’s why it got left behind so often.

Have my IV on order for one main reason… better weather sealing.  Doing landscape & wildlife photography one never knows what weather we will face.  While I’ve never had a problem with the III in the weather why not get better.  Also I will convert my III to IR.  🙂

So happy to have found your new site Kevin & Chris.  The “other site” has lost its magic since your departure and I just don’t go there anymore.  Have caught up on your articles and look forward to more.
