iPhone 14 Pro as a compact camera substitute?
    on: October 7, 2022 at 1:33 pm

So far I have been really impressed with the phone, IOS and especially the camera.  I am visiting the local farmers market on Saturday to shoot with it and try out all aspects of the new lenses and sensor as well as RAW format.  I’ll report back and will start on the article this weekend.

I’ve had my iPhone 14 Pro for a few weeks now. The camera is a nice improvement over the already excellent iPhone 13 Pro.

I’ve been playing with the RAW files in my favorite RAW processor, Capture One Pro, with good results. The potential to create really nice portfolio images is definitely exciting.

Here are a few snapshots taken at a recent “Cars & Cigars” event hosted by one my vendors at the Capital Grill in King of Prussia. These are SOOC converted from HEIC to JPGs in Apple Photos.

I got to drive the Porsche 911 Carerra S that I’m standing at. Wow! I want one! After pricing out the Porsche, I realized how “cheap” my Leica cameras are. LOL!

just an interesting tidbit as I am working on images for the article.  To get the 48 mp resolution you must choose ProRAW and then process the images in a raw processor.  There are apps that handle this.  I have been using Lightroom.  It’s funny that Capture One doesn’t have the RAW camera settings for the iPhone.  Upon import into C1 the images are dark.  In LR they work fine.  More to come soon.

    Hello Bud,

the pictures look very good, plus nice cars :). My cousin works for “Porsche Digital” and is allowed to drive some from time to time. He then always comes back down to earth when he gets into his Toyota Hybrid ;).

    Hello Kevin,

have you tried exporting the file to DNG using Lightroom or Adobe Bridge and then importing it into Capture One?
