Since the usability of this forum software will be new to most, let’s keep comments and requests about the Forum UI in this thread.

Re: Forum & Site UI: Bugs, Features & CommentsReply #1 on: June 26, 2019 at 8:13 pmThe ‘allowable edit time’ was set way too low (5 min). Now you can edit a post for several hours after posting. It will eventually lock though.
Chris,
Thank you!!!! I almost never get it right the first (or even second time)!
LOVE that the site is up and running and wish you all the very best of success!!!!

Absolutely! +1.
Another point to review on Forum function: “Quote” doesn’t seem to allow us to extract part of a quoted post for response. Is it that I don’t know how to do it, or the functionality still needs to be added?

Re: Forum & Site UI: Bugs, Features & CommentsReply #3 on: June 26, 2019 at 8:24 pmAnother question for the developers: Any reason why attachments are limited to 512 KB? That’s awfully little. And will one be able to attach more than one file?

Re: Forum & Site UI: Bugs, Features & CommentsReply #4 on: June 26, 2019 at 8:47 pmWorking on the attachment settings. The option to adjust is not yet functional but should be in a day or so.
The forum software is quite different from Small Machines. Copy and Paste within a reply is the only way to EDIT a quote at this point I believe. Likely that too will be adjustable in the future. BTW if you click Reply to the post you actually wish to reply to, at this point it appears that your post will be placed immediately after the post to which you are replying and NOT at the end of the thread…

Hi Chris,
When I click on “Quote” it does pick up the whole post, so for that requirement, no need to copy/paste. Copy/paste may be necessary for picking up part of a quote only. I’ll try that next.

Re: Forum & Site UI: Bugs, Features & CommentsReply #6 on: June 26, 2019 at 9:03 pmOK, here’s the rub: when I click on “Quote”, instead of reproducing the whole text of the quote in the new reply, it only references the post number being quoted. If one had the text of the quote reproduced in the draft response before posting, then one could edit it to retain only the relevant portion.

Same here… I agree with Mark. I often edit the quote to only the relevant portion re my response. The ability to do that is very valuable in terms of precise response, and also helping to eliminate what I call “quote clutter” where you see huge, repeated, quotes of entire posts that end up creating pages of redundant material to wade through.

yup, I’m learning too ))
Re: Forum & Site UI: Bugs, Features & CommentsReply #9 on: June 26, 2019 at 10:16 pmHmmm the quote function appears to be a ‘feature’ – not a bug…
Lets try editing between the HTML brackets and see what happens

Nope, so far quotes are non-editable. But will look into it further
