Hi David,
Is it possible you could be running out of disk space during printing?

I’ve asked, I don’t think it’s the case (~85GB free), but it was a good idea!
Re: Filter Failed issueReply #2 on: January 12, 2021 at 9:18 amI’ve heard from the client. Given yesterday’s result:
~64×82″ @300ppi @16bit = 60″ printed, then failure
~64×82″ @240ppi @8bit = 78″ printed, then failure
~64×82″ @200ppi @8bit = 82″ printed, 🍷I’ve suggested him to lower the amount of memory used by Photoshop (64GB trashcan MacPro) in the PS Preferences > Performances. Apparently it was 100% (which is quite strange, but I’ve not been in the studio in months so…) I let him use ~50%. Then, he also found a checkmark on the Epson Driver dialog for “16bit printing” that was on. Which is kinda strange, because PS is sending an 8bit file (in fact a similar “16bit printing” checkbox is grayed out in the PS dialog; but the Epson driver has an independent one that was on). He unchecked that one too.
Result: ~64×82″ @240ppi @8bit = 82″ printed completed 🍾
It’s still not @300ppi, but an improvement over past results. Still unclear whether it’s a Driver bug (16bit data flow to the printer even if the source is 8bit?) or a PS memory management issue (I’d think so). More tests should be performed, but he’s already trashed almost 2 x 64″ Hahnemuhle Baryta rolls in the process – not to mention the ink – so I guess he’s not so keen to separate variables ATM 😉 I’ll keep you posted in case something new arises.
Thanks –Davide
