In Yellowstone the amount of possible captures is more mind boggling than the Death Valley area. This was taken next to Yellowstone Lake, if I recall, where caldrons are visible all over the place and even in the lake itself. Phase XF/IQ3100/BR 35mm/ISO 50-2 stitches. The beautiful turquoise color of the caldron attracted me as well as the visibility into the caldron’s water.

Heavy winds in Death Valley created this abstract look at the edge of a dune during early morning one day. Glad I had a very sturdy tripod in order to capture this since the sand movement alone was enough to get the feeling of the blowing sands.

This is a caldron crown in Yellowstone Lake with hot water spewing from it into the lake. It is such an unusual thing to see I had to capture it along with the variety of colors of the landscape. I can also see the individual ridges detailing the long term growth of this crown from years of activity.  Shot with a Phase XF/IQ3100/BR 35mm lens.

    “Waves in Death Valley”

If you give yourself enough time in Death Valley’s sand dunes your creative juices cannot help but kick in and you start to see all kinds of shapes and tones in the sand. Just keep looking and they are all over the place where it’s just up to the photographer to capture what appeals to you and your lens at hand.  Fuji 50R/100-200 zoom/ISO 100.

During the Monsoon season at the Grand Canyon nature can put on quite a show for you if you don’t mind getting wet and have water resistant gear at hand and even protect it when you can. South Rim years ago.

Yes, Kevin, I am amazed at just how many images are just sitting in my hard drives ready for discovery. Thanks.

Why not more sand dunes from Death Valley. The more I look at my images the more I am liking them P0002372-2-copy-2

from this area while in the Sand Dunes. Light and shadows make them for me.

Antelope Canyon light shaft. It happens only certain times of the day and is best only certain times of the year. It is VERY crowded these days. This was  from many years ago. Leica M9/Zeiss 18mm

While walking around a beach in Ireland I was looking off toward the Skellig Islands, where they shot some Star Wars sequels, and noticed these diagonal rocks in the foreground combined with the receding water trails in the sand from the tide. It took a while to compose it the way I liked, but I finally got the composition as wanted.

At Cannon Beach in Oregon I hung around here for a few days trying to capture different moods while shooting the stacks in all their glory. This ended up being a moonset with a strange cloud structure being accented by the moon light. I call it “Forward Slash”.

While out in Colorado some years ago for the fall leaves, I decided to try an infrared capture. While using the Phase IQ3100 Achromatic digital back with the 830 filter this was the result. It made the Aspen trees white but the drama in the sky is also what makes this image  for me. I also tries the 695 filter, but preferred the shot with the 830 filter.
